Formation for Catechists

Our aim is to serve the needs of Catechists, offering short but substantial formation accessible to everyone. 

We offer parishes and dioceses 3 Foundation Courses to cover the fundamental principles of Catechesis in the light of the Directory for Catechesis.

We also offer 7 Specialised Courses for specific catechetical ministries, as well as a Communication Course

We offer specialised training in the 'Come, follow me' pedagogy developed by Notre Dame de Vie Institute in France. 

We offer personal Mentoring sessions for Catechists. 

Finally, we offer support for the inclusive catechesis of Catholics with additional needs such as ADHD, Autism and Down Syndrome.

Foundation Courses

Essential Training

5 sessions for new or seasoned catechists, which cover:
1. Introduction to catechesis
2. Proclaiming the Good News: Jesus Christ at the heart of catechesis
3. The Faith of the Church: Introduction to the Catechism
4. Scriptural catechesis: introduction to the Bible
5. Methods and Resources

5 sessions to focus on certain aspects of the Catholic Faith, and how to transmit them to adults, young people and children.
1. How to talk about God
2. How to talk about Jesus Christ
3. How to talk about Salvation (and the problem of evil)
4. How to talk about the human person
5. How to talk about the Church

Catechesis for the 3rd Millennium

5 sessions to cover the main themes of the 2020 Directory for Catechesis, and discuss the challenges faced by catechists today.
The course includes:
1. Catechesis and Evangelisation
2. The vocation of the catechist
3. The transmission of faith
4. Catechesis and the family
5. Digital catechesis

Specialised Courses
Journey in Faith
3 sessions to help catechists accompany adults on their journey of faith marked by the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA / OCIA).
Baptism Preparation for Parents
3 sessions to help catechists in the task of preparing parents for the baptism of their child.
Sacraments for Children
3 sessions to help catechists in the task of preparing children to receive the sacraments of reconciliation and the Eucharist.
Acceptional Catechesis
3 session to help catechists, parents and clergy catechise children with additional needs such as autism, Down syndrome or ADHD.
Confirmation
3 sessions to help catechists in their task to catechise young people as they prepare to receive the sacrament of confirmation.
Marriage Preparation
3 sessions to help catechists in the task of preparing couples to receive the sacrament of matrimony.
Children's Liturgy of the Word
3 sessions to equip leaders and volunteers who offer a liturgy of the Word for children in their parish.

Communication
3 sessions course

From parish newsletters to the pulpit, this course will give you the ability to communicate with confidence. Our expert will show you easy to follow tools and techniques and no previous experience or knowledge is required.

Though designed to be a course each session has been designed as a stand alone.

Come Follow Me - Catechesis for Children

Our sisters have specialised in using the 'Come Follow me' pedagogical method developed by the Notre Dame de Vie Institute in France for the catechesis of children aged 5 to 10. 

We are offering formation and training for catechists wishing to use this method in the English-speaking world.

Mentoring Sessions
Personal Mentoring

The sisters are offering individual online sessions for new and seasoned catechists who are seeking personal support and help. 

​

Simply contact us to arrange for a session,

if possible specifying your needs so we can best respond. 

Availability for this service is restricted to weekdays,

between 2 and 5 pm (GMT).

Suggested donation: £25 per session per person
